Neck and Shoulder Tension After Work: A More Personal Massage
Listen to this article in Zorik’s voice.
You shut your laptop, but your shoulders have not gotten the message. Maybe your neck feels stiff when you turn your head. Maybe you notice your jaw is tight only when you finally sit down.
A massage can give those areas attention. It can also give you an hour when you are not the one managing every detail.
Start with your day, not a label
Before I work on a tight neck or shoulder, I ask what you have been doing, what feels uncomfortable, and what you want from the session. Desk work, exercise, sleep, and stress can all matter. I do not assume that one tight muscle tells me the cause.
Tell me whether you want focused attention on a particular area, a fuller session, or a chance to slow down after a demanding week. That helps me choose a useful starting point.

Deep work does not have to be a pressure contest
I use slow massage and bodywork, adjusting the pressure to what you can comfortably receive. Sometimes detailed work around the shoulders feels helpful. Sometimes broader, slower contact gives the area room to settle.
If you find yourself bracing, holding your breath, or wishing I would move, say so. I can change pressure, position, or technique. Your feedback is part of the session.
Your mind can get a turn to rest
When your day has been full of decisions, it may take time to stop thinking about the next one. You can talk if you want, or be quiet. Breath awareness and guided attention are available if they feel useful; you do not have to do anything special on the table.
Some people leave feeling mentally quieter as well as more comfortable in their body. Others notice only a physical change. Your experience does not need to look a certain way.

Choose the amount of time that fits
The Focus Reset is a good starting point when one or two areas need attention. If you want more time for a fuller conversation, optional movement and longer hands-on work, the Signature Reset may fit better. The Immersive Reset leaves even more room for comprehensive work.
My private studio is in Canoga Park near Woodland Hills and Topanga Mall. At-residence appointments are available by request, so you can stay in your own space after the session.
Tell me what your neck and shoulders have been asking for lately. We can decide where to begin.
